La semaine d’ouverture accueille tous les photographes et commissaires du programme et propose des débats, colloques, signatures de livres,visites d’expositions accessibles gratuitement à tous.
C’est l’occasion de rencontres informelles avec des professionnels du monde entier.
Les projections nocturnes présentent le travail de photographes ou de spécialistes de la photographie accompagnées souvent par des concerts. Chaque soirée est un vrai spectacle qui fait l’objet d’une création unique.

Il a enthousiasmé le public d’Arles en 2007. Depuis, il a connu un succès fulgurant et enchaine des projets qui affirment son talent autant que son discours. Il a été récompensé par le prestigieux TED Prize aux États-Unis en 2011, il revient à Arles en soirée de clôture présenter l’ensemble des projets qu’il réalise autour du monde avec son équipe et une nuée de fans qui le suivent sur Internet.

Le prix Découverte a été l’occasion d’inviter à Arles plus de 50 nominateurs qui se sont succédés dans cet exercice. Leurs choix extrêmement variés montrent combien le champ de la photographie n’a cessé de s’étendre. Force est de constater, à travers cette projection qui les rassemble, que tous les artistes primés, souvent rencontrés en plein essor, ont acquis une grande notoriété.

Gala première of this documentary that tells the story of Robert Capa’s ‘Mexican’ Suitcase, a treasure, sought after for more than seventy years, that contained negatives of pictures by Robert Capa, Chim (David Seymour) and Gerda Taro of the Spanish Civil War. It was saved when Mexican diplomats in France rescued Spanish Republicans from the Argelès-sur-Mer concentration camp.

The Discovery Award has led to the invitation of more than fifty guest nominators, whose widely varying choices illustrate the ongoing expansion of the field of photography. Many of the winning artists were on the rise at the time; and as this exhibition conclusively shows, all of them have gone on to find real reputations.
